The wall comes first.
Every commission begins on site. Proportion, natural light, circulation and the existing palette are measured before a single line is drawn. The painting that follows belongs to that room and to no other.

Scale
Measured against door heights, cornice lines and how far back a person can actually stand.
Light
Studied at three times of day. North light and lamp light are two different paintings.

Matched to the existing palette of the room, its textiles and its floor.
